Reducing the number of men who go to prison could help curb the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections in a community, according to a new computer model developed by researchers at the University of Michigan.
Last week, the Council of the District of Columbia unanimously passed the LGBTQ Cultural Competency Continuing Education Amendment Act. Once signed, the district will be the first jurisdiction in the nation to require LGBTQ cultural competency training for health care providers.

Australian researchers developed a method to extract nanocellulose from native spinifex grass, and have used it as an additive in latex. The resulting "grass" condom is thinner, stronger, and more flexible than the standard.
